Savannah- Jean Mangham Durante, 84, died Thursday December 7, 2006 at Buckingham South.

She was born February 5, 1922 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She lived in Slidell, Louisiana for over thirty years where she was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She was an active participant of the Aldersgate UMC Care Team. In 2002 she and her husband, Arthur A. Durante, Retired United States Air Force Veteran returned to Savannah where they had resided during his military service at Hunter Air Force Base. She was proud of her husbands’ decorated military service during World War II and a supporter of all U.S. Military servicemen. Upon their return to Savannah they became members of Wilmington Island United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years and her youngest son, Byron Lee Durante.

Jean is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Arthur A. Durante, Jr. and Anne of Columbus, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Toni D. and Eddie Johnson, Sr. of Savannah; brother and sister-in-law, C.A. and Gloria Mangham of Cransfield Gap, TX; daughter-in-law, Angelique Durante of Kingwood, TX; five grandchildren, David and Craig Durante, Robert Anthony Durante, Jr., Cynthia J. Hawk and Eddie Johnson, Jr. She had four beautiful great-granddaughters, all living in the Savannah area.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 11, 2006 at Wilmington Island United Methodist Church with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Burial will be in the family plot at the Walton Cemetery in Carthage, Texas.
